"Untitled" Painting
Untitled
30” × 40”
Acrylic, paper, coffee, and modeling paste on canvas
This piece is a self portrait of Jima Chester. It contains pages from 5 of her favorite books ("The hate U give", The "dear Martin" series, "MONSTER", & "white fragility"). In addition to the book pages the artist incorporated hand written letter from a few of her mentors growing up into the piece as well. The purpose of this painting was to pay a service to her growth through her art. Creating a piece that literally contained things, words, ideals, and visuals of how she thinks and sees the world and her self as a youth in America.
